A young boy came to the clinic with his father, crying after an accident at home. He is a very active child and had been playing when he fell and hit his head on a sharp mosaic edge, causing a deep cut on his scalp.
He was carefully assessed to make sure there were no signs of increased intracranial pressure. The wound was then cleaned, and local anaesthetic was given before suturing. Although he cried throughout the procedure, he stayed brave while the wound was treated.
At the end of the visit, he was given a lollipop and left the clinic smiling. A week later, he returned for review and the wound had healed well. Since absorbable sutures were used, there was no need for suture removal.
